Wheels, Rims and Tires

Rims. Most mass-produced mountainboard boards come with 8" wheels with plastic rims. Plastic combines enormous strength with very light weight.

Aluminum rims, which are rarer, are more durable, and can withstand higher inner-tube pressures. They are generally reserved for high-end boards.

Tires and tubes. All 8-inch tubes fit all rims and tires of the same size. The same applies to the 9-inch size.

Tire relief. The major difference between different tire models is often the stud pattern. Depending on how you use your mountainboard, you may need more or less relief on your tires. Those who ride dirt bikes or on uneven terrain will opt for tires with pronounced relief. Those who ride on a flat, clean surface (such as asphalt) are more likely to opt for low-relief tires, or even slick tires(MBS Roadies). Smooth 8" tires are also widely used on electric mountainboards, which are also at home in the city.
